My concept for starting APR happened in 2018 whilst working in a hospital amputee rehabilitation setting.
I wanted to create a specialist service to better support people with amputation once they return to living at home after hospital.
I believe that the period between leaving hospital and returning home for the first time after amputation is so important, and vital for new amputees to receive high quality care in order to make the transition successfully. I believe that high quality care is care that happens quickly, is given by subject experts, and done with no fuss so that the person living with amputation can get back to living a life they want, to the best of their ability.
So in 2020, APR began. Now in 2024, we are a small, busy team that support a community of people living with amputation across South East Queensland – covering the Moreton Bay region in the North of Brisbane down to the Gold Coast in the South, inclusive of the Brisbane CBD, Ipswich, and Logan council areas.
We service clients who are self-funding, NDIS, and WorkCover compensable.
We offer a range of specialist services for people living with amputation, including Physiotherapy, Support Coordination, and Equipment hire & purchase. Our resources page is free to access, with helpful information and stories to help people living with amputation and their families on their journey.
Our service area spans across South East Queensland: covering the Moreton Bay, Brisbane CBD, Ipswich, Logan, Redlands, and Gold Coast council areas.
